I. Process Characteristics
Hole punching processing using molds
The holes are punched using a mold pressing method eliminating the need for computer drilling or laser drilling, offering a simple and efficient process.
Precision Limitations: Minimum hole diameter ≥ 0.9mm, unable meet the requirements of fine lines (e.g., line width/spacing < 0.3mm).
Material Composition
Base material: Cowhide impregnated with phenolic resin, with surface-bonded copper foil (typically 18–70μm thick).
Flame Retardancy UL94-HB grade (non-flame retardant), no self-extinguishing capability during combustion.
Poor heat resistance
The glass temperature (Tg) is not specified but is far below 130℃, unable to withstand the high temperatures of lead-free welding (peaks at 26℃) or high-load scenarios in power boards.
II. Core Advantages
Extremely low cost
Raw material prices (paper base phenolic resin are much lower than fiberglass-based materials (such as FR-4), with a cost reduction of 5–10 RMB/m² compared to CEM3 for the same area.
High production efficiency
The speed of punching holes with molds is faster than mechanical drilling, suitable for large-scale standardized production, andens the delivery cycle.
Meets basic performance requirements
It can satisfy the electrical connection needs of simple circuits in mild environments (room temperature, low humidity, no mechanical).
III. Applicable Circuit Board Types
Only supports single-sided boards, not suitable for double-sided or multi-layer board designs.
Designitations:
Low wiring density, no via (plated through-hole) design;
Components can only be placed on one side, not supporting high-density S placement.
IV. Application Fields
Suitable for low-cost, low-reliability requirement consumer electronics:
Toys and entertainment devices: Electronic toys, controls, simple game console circuits.
Basic household appliance control boards: LED desk lamps, electric fan timers, calculator keypad boards.
Low-power electronic accessories Battery-powered clocks, thermometers, simple sensor interface boards.
V. Prohibited Use Scenarios:
Products requiring flame retardant certification (.g., power adapters, chargers);
High-temperature environments (automotive electronics, industrial equipment);
High-frequency/high-precision circuits ( as RF modules, precision instruments).
